- What if my target is smaller than the image can reach?
- The tool lowers quality, then progressively reduces the pixel size, and returns the smallest file it produced. It tells you if it could not get under the target so you can loosen it.
- Why is the result sometimes well under the target?
- Encoders jump in steps. The tool always stays at or below your limit, so it picks the last quality setting that fit rather than overshooting it.
