VideoKit — Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the VideoKit mobile app (“the app”, “we”, “us”) collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the requirements of the Apple App Store, Google Play, Google AdMob, the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act. The app is published by the maker of AMPDF, who is the data controller. For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@ampdf.com.
The short version
- •Every job — compress, trim, convert, resize, merge, GIF, audio, frames, metadata — runs on your device. We run no servers and never receive your videos.
- •There is no account and no sign-in. The app sends no usage analytics of any kind.
- •The app is free and shows ads through Google AdMob. Google and its partners use an advertising identifier and related data to serve and measure those ads.
- •In the EEA, UK and Switzerland the app asks for your consent before personalised ads (Google’s User Messaging Platform). On iOS it asks for permission (App Tracking Transparency) before any tracking. Decline and the app still works fully.
- •You can watch an optional rewarded ad to pause full-screen ads for a while. It unlocks nothing else — every tool is always free.
- •You can clear temporary files, cache and exports from Settings → Storage, or erase everything by uninstalling.
1. Your videos and files
When you pick a video, compress it, trim it, cut a section out, crop or rotate it, change its speed, merge clips, convert its format, extract or replace its audio, make a GIF, extract frames, remove its metadata, or prepare it for a social platform, all of that work happens locally on your device using the operating system’s own media frameworks and on-device video libraries. Your source videos, the results, intermediate files, and your history and favourites are held only in the app’s private storage on your device. They are not uploaded to us or any third party, and we cannot see them.
The app has no cloud, sync or backup feature. A result is saved only where you choose — into the app, to your Photos, to a file you export, or through your device’s share sheet to another app you pick.
2. Video metadata
Videos can carry hidden details such as creation date and device model. The Video Information tool reads the fields already inside a video you open, so it can show them to you, and Remove Metadata re-encodes a copy without what the format allows. Metadata is only ever displayed on screen or, if you ask, copied to your clipboard — it is never transmitted or shared.
3. Photo library, files and sharing into the app
- •Choosing a video — the app uses the system photo picker or the system file picker, so it sees only the videos you actually select.
- •Saving results — the app writes to your photo library only when you tap Save, and only the file you created. On Android this is why the app declares photo and video access.
- •Share into VideoKit — if you share a video to VideoKit from another app, the app receives only that video, on your device, and opens it in the tool chooser. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- •The app does not use the camera or the microphone, and does not read contacts, location, messages or health data.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is supported by ads supplied by Google AdMob: banner ads, a native ad on the home screen, occasional full-screen ads after you finish a result, an ad when you return to the app from the background, and an optional rewarded ad. Full-screen ads are limited by frequency caps, are never shown while a video is processing or over a preview, and the return-from-background ad is never shown when the app is first opened. To serve and measure ads, Google and Google’s advertising partners may collect and process:
- •your device’s advertising identifier — the Advertising ID on Android, or the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) on iOS (the IDFA only if you allow tracking);
- •coarse, non-precise information such as device model, operating system, language, general location derived from IP address, and ad-interaction events;
- •cookies and similar on-device identifiers used for frequency capping, invalid-traffic / fraud prevention and measurement.
This data is used to show ads (personalised where you have permitted it, otherwise non-personalised), to limit repetition, to measure performance and to prevent abuse. It is not combined with your videos, which never leave your device. 5. Your ad and tracking choices
- •EEA, UK and Switzerland — on first launch the app shows a Google-certified consent request (Google’s User Messaging Platform). Your choice controls whether personalised ads and related data use are allowed. Change it any time from Settings → Privacy → Manage ad privacy choices.
- •iOS — App Tracking Transparency — before any cross-app or cross-site tracking, iOS asks for your permission. Decline and the app does not use the IDFA and ads are non-personalised. Change it in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- •Android — Advertising ID — you can reset your Advertising ID, opt out of ad personalisation, or delete the ID entirely in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. The app declares the
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_IDpermission for advertising. - •Pause ads — Settings → Support VideoKit lets you watch one rewarded ad to pause interstitial and return-from-background ads for two hours. Banner and native ads are not paused.
6. Analytics
The app contains no third-party analytics or telemetry SDK and sends no usage events, screen views or crash reports to us or anyone else. Counters the app keeps (for example how many jobs you have finished, used to space out ads, and when your two-hour ad pause ends) stay on your device. Google AdMob performs its own ad measurement as described in section 4.

The app does not request the camera, microphone or audio-library permissions; those are explicitly blocked in the Android build.

9. How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal information and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond what is described in this policy. The only recipient of any data is Google (AdMob), and only the advertising identifier and ad-related data in section 4.
10. Legal bases (EEA / UK)
- •Providing the app’s features — performance of our agreement with you and our legitimate interest in a working product. This is all on-device.
- •Personalised ads and associated identifiers — your consent, collected through the consent request and withdrawable at any time.
- •Non-personalised ads, fraud prevention and measurement — our and Google’s legitimate interest in funding and protecting a free app.
11. Data retention and deletion
- •Your videos, results, history, favourites and settings stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
- •Settings → Storage lets you clear temporary files and the cache, and manage or delete your exports. You can also delete individual history entries and their exported file from the Projects tab.
- •Uninstalling the app removes all app data from the device.
- •To reset or remove advertising identifiers, use your operating system settings (section 5).

12. Security
Your videos and app data are held in app-private storage. All network traffic — ad requests and the consent form — uses HTTPS/TLS. No system is perfectly secure, but the app is designed so that your videos never leave your device.
13. Children
VideoKit is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, contact us and we will help.
14. International users
Your videos are processed on your device wherever you are. Our advertising partner (Google) may process the limited data described above on servers in other countries, including the United States, subject to its own policies and transfer safeguards.
15. Your rights
Because your content stays on your device, you control it directly — view, export or delete anything in the app at any time. Depending on where you live you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, port or restrict processing of personal data held by our partner, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent, without discriminatory treatment for doing so. Exercise them through the Google controls linked above, or contact privacy@ampdf.com. EEA/UK users may also complain to their local data protection authority.
16. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data we will update this page and its dates and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app before the change takes effect.
