Image Toolkit — Privacy Policy
For the Image Toolkit mobile app on Android and iOS. Effective 2026-09-10 · last updated 2026-09-10.
This policy explains what information the Image Toolkit mobile app (“the app”, “we”, “us”) collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the requirements of the Apple App Store, Google Play, Google AdMob, the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act. The app is published by the maker of AMPDF, who is the data controller. For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@ampdf.com.
The short version
- •Every job — compress, resize, convert, crop, rotate, watermark, PDF, QR, metadata — runs on your device. We run no servers and never receive your images.
- •There is no account and no sign-in. The app sends no usage analytics of any kind.
- •The free app shows ads through Google AdMob. Google and its partners use an advertising identifier and related data to serve and measure those ads.
- •In the EEA, UK and Switzerland the app asks for your consent before personalised ads (Google’s User Messaging Platform). On iOS it asks for permission (App Tracking Transparency) before any tracking. Decline and the app still works fully.
- •The Pro option removes all ads.
- •You can erase everything from Settings → Delete all app data, or by uninstalling.
1. Your images and files
When you pick an image, take a photo, compress, resize, convert, crop, rotate, flip, straighten, watermark, place images onto a canvas, build an ID photo, create a PDF, run a batch, or find duplicates, all of that work happens locally on your device using the operating system’s own image and PDF frameworks. Your source images, the results, intermediate files, and your history, favourites and custom presets are held only in the app’s private storage on your device. They are not uploaded to us or any third party, and we cannot see them.
The app has no cloud, sync or backup feature. A result is saved only where you choose — into the app, to your Photos, or to a file you export or share.
2. EXIF and other image metadata
The Metadata Viewer reads the EXIF, IPTC and GPS fields already inside an image you open, so it can show them to you. The Metadata Cleaner removes them. Metadata is only ever displayed on screen or, if you ask, copied to your clipboard — it is never transmitted or shared, and location data from your photos is not read for any other purpose.
3. Camera and photo library
- •Camera — used only when you take a photo to edit, or scan a QR / barcode. Frames are processed on the device; nothing is recorded or uploaded. Scanned QR / barcode links are never opened automatically.
- •Photos (import) — the app uses the system photo picker, so it sees only the images you actually select, and needs no broad library permission.
- •Photos (save) — the app asks for permission to add to your library only when you tap Save, and only writes the file you created. Location is not attached to saved files.
4. Text recognition (OCR)
The OCR screen provides a manual text area for you to type or paste text from an image. The shipped app performs no automated text recognition and sends no image or text to any recognition service.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free app is supported by ads supplied by Google AdMob — banners, native ads within lists, and occasional full-screen ads. Full-screen ads appear only when you leave a finished result, never over controls, during processing, or on app launch. To serve and measure ads, Google and Google’s advertising partners may collect and process:
- •your device’s advertising identifier — the Advertising ID on Android, or the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) on iOS (the IDFA only if you allow tracking);
- •coarse, non-precise information such as device model, operating system, language, general location derived from IP address, and ad-interaction events;
- •cookies and similar on-device identifiers used for frequency capping, invalid-traffic / fraud prevention and measurement.
This data is used to show ads (personalised where you have permitted it, otherwise non-personalised), to limit repetition, to measure performance and to prevent abuse. It is not combined with your images, which never leave your device. Google’s ad domains, and the identifier and data categories above, are declared in the app’s iOS privacy manifest. For how Google uses this information see “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services” and the list of Google advertising-technology providers.
6. Your ad and tracking choices
- •EEA, UK and Switzerland — on first launch the app shows a Google-certified consent request (Google’s User Messaging Platform). Your choice controls whether personalised ads and related data use are allowed. Change it any time from Settings → Manage ad choices.
- •iOS — App Tracking Transparency — before any cross-app or cross-site tracking, iOS asks for your permission. Decline and the app does not use the IDFA and ads are non-personalised. Change it in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- •Android — Advertising ID — you can reset your Advertising ID, opt out of ad personalisation, or delete the ID entirely in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. The app declares the
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_IDpermission for advertising. - •Go Pro — the in-app Pro option removes all ads and, with it, the AdMob SDK’s ad requests.
7. Analytics
The app contains no third-party analytics or telemetry SDK and sends no usage events, screen views or crash reports to us or anyone else. Any counters the app keeps (for example how many jobs you have run, used to space out ads) stay on your device. Google AdMob performs its own ad measurement as described in section 5.
8. Permissions summary
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Camera | Taking a photo to edit, and scanning QR / barcodes. |
| Photos (add) | Saving a processed image to your library when you tap Save. |
| Internet / network | Loading ads and the consent form. Not used to send your images anywhere. |
| Advertising ID (Android) | Serving and measuring AdMob ads; respects your opt-out. |
Picking images from your library uses the system photo picker and needs no permission. On Android the app does not request media, storage or audio permissions; those are explicitly blocked in the build.
9. Data collection summary (for store labels)
| Data | Collected / shared | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Advertising ID (Device ID) | Yes, by Google AdMob. Not linked to your identity. | Third-party advertising; measurement; fraud prevention. |
| Approximate location (from IP) | Yes, by Google AdMob. Not linked to your identity. | Ad serving and measurement. |
| Product interaction / usage | Yes, by Google AdMob (ad interactions only). Not linked to your identity. | Advertising and measurement. |
| Your images, PDFs and their metadata | No — processed only on your device. | Core app features. Never collected or shared. |
| Contacts, precise location, health, messages, audio | No — not accessed. | Not applicable. |
10. How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal information and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond what is described in this policy. The only recipient of any data is Google (AdMob), and only the advertising identifier and ad-related data in section 5. If you go Pro, even that stops.
11. Legal bases (EEA / UK)
- •Providing the app’s features — performance of our agreement with you and our legitimate interest in a working product. This is all on-device.
- •Personalised ads and associated identifiers — your consent, collected through the consent request and withdrawable at any time.
- •Non-personalised ads, fraud prevention and measurement — our and Google’s legitimate interest in funding and protecting a free app.
12. Data retention and deletion
- •Your images, results, history, favourites, presets and settings stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
- •Settings → Delete all app data permanently erases your history, favourites, custom presets, recent tools, the ad-frequency counters and every cached working file.
- •Uninstalling the app removes all app data from the device.
- •To reset or remove advertising identifiers, use your operating system settings (section 6).
- •For any request relating to data held by Google, contact us at privacy@ampdf.com and use Google’s controls linked above.
13. Security
Your images and app data are held in app-private storage. All network traffic — ad requests and the consent form — uses HTTPS/TLS. No system is perfectly secure, but the app is designed so that your images never leave your device.
14. Children
Image Toolkit is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ad requests are tagged as not directed to children and, where required, as for users under the age of consent, so Google serves only non-personalised ads in those cases.
15. International users
Your images are processed on your device wherever you are. Our advertising partner (Google) may process the limited data described above on servers in other countries, including the United States, subject to its own policies and transfer safeguards.
16. Your rights
Because your content stays on your device, you control it directly — view, export or delete anything in the app at any time. Depending on where you live you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, port or restrict processing of personal data held by our partner, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent, without discriminatory treatment for doing so. Exercise them through the Google controls linked above, or contact privacy@ampdf.com. EEA/UK users may also complain to their local data protection authority.
17. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data we will update this page and its dates and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app before the change takes effect.
